The Liberal Democrats have announced they would plug funding gaps for the NHS and social care by putting a penny on income tax.
The tax would raise an additional £100m for our local NHS in Hull and the East Riding, with £88m for healthcare and £22m for social care.
The extra spend on the NHS is the first major policy of the election campaign by the party and it is the party’s flagship spending commitment.
The Liberal Democrats manifesto will also set out a ‘five-point recovery plan’ for NHS and social care services in their manifesto.
