Residents Let Down by Council's bin service over the New Year

Local Lib Dems are raising concerns with the Council about problems with bin collections over the Christmas and New Year period.

Many people did not have their brown bins collected on their rearranged day or the Saturday after the New Year bank holiday, and the Council are not arranging missed collections for people whose bins were not emptied unless residents themselves rang 300300 to arrange collection.

Cllr Terry Keal said, "I have been contacted by many residents who did not have their brown bins collected, and who are concerned about having food waste waiting in their bins for another two weeks.

"It is just not acceptable for the Council to miss collections and then do nothing to fix the problem, or to communicate to local residents so they know what is going on."

The Lib Dem team are trying to find out the scale of the problem. If people have had a problem with missed bin collections, they are asking residents to contact them on info@libdemsinhullandhessle.org.uk
