The Hull Local Plan is currently out for consultation.
Cllr Claire Thomas has raised the issue of the former Birds Eye site being designated for solely employment land at a recent meeting of the West Area Committee.
Cllr Thomas said 'local residents are concerned about the future of the former Birds Eye site which has been empty since 2007. Plans for just housing on the site have been rejected by the Council's Planning Committee'.
The most recent plans for the site were for a mixed development of housing and light industrial units. This was again rejected by the Planning Committee and is currently the subject of an appeal which is being looked at by the Planning Inspectorate.
'People in the local area close to the Birds Eye site felt that the plans for housing and light industrial units was a good compromise. The site has been empty for a long time now and local people want to see the area tidied up and used' said Cllr Thomas.
