Campaigners are calling for action from the Council to tackle speeding traffic on Laburnum Avenue, East Hull.
Local councillors Linda Chambers and Adam Williams have helped secure part funding for a traffic calming scheme. They are calling on Council Highways Bosses to make the road a priority and come up with the other half of the funding.
Cllr Chambers said: “Adam and I met with officials from the Highways Department earlier this month, as well as the portfolio holder. We pushed them to commit the other half of the funding for this scheme. As yet we’ve had no commitment from them.”
Resident Diana Hatcher, who has launched a petition calling for action, said: “The Council has failed for years to do anything to tackle speeding on Laburnum Avenue. There have been many near misses and it is time something was done before there is a serious accident.”
