Drypool councillors Linda Chambers, Diana Hatcher and Adam Williams are backing residents on Victoria Dock opposed to plans for a cruise terminal next to their homes. The proposed Victoria Dock location is too small, with no room to build the necessary infrastructure. It would cause significant congestion and pollution in the area.
Liberal Democrats are calling for the alternative sites at Albert Dock or St Andrews Quay to be taken more seriously by the Council.
"We all recognise the potential economic benefits of a cruise terminal to Hull," said Diana. "But the potential would be so much better if it was located in an appropriate location. By building a cruise terminal at Albert Dock or St Andrews Quay there is the potential for a truly world class terminal, regenerating a currently underused area and providing much better transport links into the city centre and the road network."
Adam, Linda and Diana have launched a petition calling for the alternative sites to be properly considered: www.libdemsinhull.org.uk/cruise_terminal
