Opposition councillors are today warning that threats to cut bus routes in Hull will devastate communities and isolate people who depend on public transport on a daily basis.
Lib Dem councillors in Hull are asking the council to protect their buses from deepening local authority budgets cuts.
The calls come as the report for Better Transport shows 63 per cent of local authorities cut bus services in 2015.
The same research showed that Hull City Council had cut funding for buses by 17% between 2010 and 2015.
Campaigner Linda Tock, who has been campaigning alongside Councillor Jackie Dad for a better bus service in the Lambwath Road area of East Hull, said: “Buses are a lifeline for many people, helping them get to school, work, services and the city centre. The Council needs to do more to support communities with more regular and reliable bus services.”
