Hull City Council Lib Dem Leader Cllr Mike Ross has raised his concerns
in writing with Paul Moffat, the Department for Education Improvement
Advisor to Hull City Council. In the letter Cllr Mike Ross has set out his
group’s concerns about the problems affecting the Children’s Services
department and requesting an urgent meeting with Paul Moffat.
This comes in light of a series of poor Ofsted reports since 2015 – with the
most recent damning report revealing that some children in care found to be at
risk of harm during their visits. The report serves as a damning indictment of
the ‘leaders’ and ‘managers’ in the council.

After recently calling for the resignation of the Children’s Services
Portfolio Holder, Lib Dem Group Leader Cllr Mike Ross said:
“The Lib Dems in Hull demand better than this from our services and want to
play our part in protecting the Children in this city who have been outright let
down by the current administration.”
“Following this latest report, I have written to the advisor, as we as a group are
determined to play our part in helping turn things around.
“This is a matter of the safety of the children in our city and now more than
ever we need things to be open. As the opposition Council Group, we want to
offer our support to get the best outcome for the children of the city – this is
what matters most.”
