Lib Dems have welcomed over £15million awarded to the Council to tackle the shortage of housing stock in the city.
The Government funding is being provided through the Homes and Communities Agency and will deliver 634 affordable rented homes across the city.
Councillor Claire Thomas said: “I welcome the £15,165,300 in Government funds that will help to increase the number of affordable homes across the city. The funding will help create jobs to build a stronger local economy and more affordable homes for a fairer society.”
“It's good to see that government has given Hull all the money it asked for to improve housing. Added to the investment in reducing the Humber Bridge tolls, improvements to Castle Street, and improvements to flood defences this is another sign that the Lib Dems in Government are fighting to make sure that Hull gets the investment it needs for infrastructure and regeneration.”
“There is still a lot more to do, but the £15million affordable homes funding will help to drive regeneration in many parts of the city,” added Claire.
