We take crime and anti-social behaviour seriously. Everyone in Hull deserves to feel safe in their neighbourhood and it is a huge concern that crime and anti-social behaviour are on the rise.
Nationally, the Conservative Government is failing to support local police forces by refusing to provide them with the funds they urgently need.
We would re-introduce the Crime Prevention Fund. This fund – which was scrapped by the Labour Council in 2011 – would be used to pay for crime prevention measures including security gating and alarms.
As well as helping to prevent crimes in the first place, we also hope that the Crime Prevention Fund will go some way towards easing the burden on Humberside Police by freeing up some resources.
We will also continue to look for opportunities to work with the Police and Crime Commissioner and Humberside Police, to help strengthen joint efforts to tackle crime and antisocial behaviour in Hull.
